The art history program at CSUSB’s mission is to prepare the students for their future within the museum field as well as gain an understanding of its specialty within the humanities realm. For the first portion of the program students start by learning about a wide range of art from different cultures and time periods. From there they will progress to studying the foundation of the student’s analysis into social and political concepts through visual art is encompassed by revelatory practices, taking on historical and critical approaches, as well as philosophical ideas. Through the exercise of viewing, collaborating, and writing, students learn to examine works of art from multiple perspectives and master their presentation skills and scholarly research.
